India’s Freshwater Megafauna - My Fulbright Project

Fulbright-Kalam climate Scholar

A two-year visiting scholarship supports my independent project

As a Fulbright–Kalam Climate Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington (UW), I am investigating the combined effects of climate change and land-use alteration on India’s freshwater megafauna. Freshwater megafauna is a group at high risk owing to the rapid river alterations and ongoing climate change. While ecological forecasting to assess habitat shifts and conservation risks is the priority, I started with an understanding of what is known so far. Using state of the art text mining and automated workflows that I developed, there are exciting results on both fronts. My project comes with enriching collaborations with faculty at UW, and long-term colleagues in India. Stay tuned for a couple of publications coming soon!
